Alhambra Theatre Renovations:

Spurr Architecture was selected to work with the Christian County Fiscal Court along with the director of the Pennyroyal Arts Council to renovate the existing 90-year-old Alhambra Theatre.  The project consists of renovation of the existing lower lobby to address egress issues, patron wayfinding, new exterior courtyard, relocating toilet rooms and concession stand for better patron access, along with a grand stair case and elevator.  Also, the upper floor will be converted from offices and renovated into an upper lobby area for patron access and secondly a smaller venue space, bar and a viewing area overlooking the balcony down to the stage.  Extensive research and design, along with coordination of all trades were taken into account with this project as the building consists of multiple areas and floors that were renovated to create the two lobbies functional for the theatre.   The interior of the Theatre was originally designed in a Moorish style, with this renovation the Art Council and the design team selected to go back to an Art Deco theme for the new renovations.
